This week was so much fun!! Last P-day, we wanted to go to a museum but we ended up getting lost so we basically just rode the bus all the way around the circle… about an hour and a half!!! haha. But it was good.
Tuesday, we had a GREAT District Meeting. The STL’s (Sister Muller and Sister Sams) came down from Edinburgh to be there too! And then they stayed in Stirling with us for the exchange. When the leaders come to your area to be on exchange and both teams stay in the area it’s called a blitz. I was with Sister Muller again! She’s awesome and I love her so much but I am so sad because she goes home at the end of this transfer!! Sister Sams was with Sister Anjain. We had so much fun together.
On Wednesday, we met with a few crazy people. But that was fun. haha. You get some of those sometimes. We also had lunch with the Stake President’s wife!! That was so much fun. Their house is so nice. It’s probably the nicest house I’ve been in on my mission. Thursday, we had a dinner appointment at the Bishop’s house. That’s always a lot of fun.
Friday we had a few good lessons and another dinner appointment! We seem to have gotten all the dinner appointments scheduled in one week it seems. We had more dinner appointments this last week than we’ve had all last transfer!! Haha.
Saturday and Sunday were good but also uneventful. Just a lot of great stuff jammed into everything. haha.
I was a lot better at taking pictures of the autumn colors this week, though!!
This week has been amazing. A little interesting in some places but overall, just a spectacular week. The first couple days of the week, so Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, I was down for the count. I had another cold. Which was no fun. But at least I was able to sleep and rest to try to work up strength to go to Edinburgh on Thursday! Stirling is in the Edinburgh Zone so we’re not too far away. I’m actually closer to Edinburgh now than I was when I was in Dundee. It’s only about an hour on the train.
Thursday was another All-Scotland Conference!! All the missionaries from everywhere in Scotland went to Edinburgh to hear from our mission president and receive other instruction. I got to see so many friends from past areas. It was great. A huge focus was member missionary work. It’s always been a big focus but it’s been re-emphasized several times in General Conference and in our All-Scotland Conference so we’re making it an even bigger focus. I’m really glad that I rested as much as I could before the conference because after travelling and bouncing around all day talking to everyone and hearing instruction all day, I was exhausted. So Friday and Saturday weren’t too eventful.
I feel really cool though. Explanation: the church building for our area is about 40 minutes away on a bus because we stay in Stirling and the church is in Alloa. The buses run a lot less frequently on Sundays than on other days of the weeks so it’s actually impossible for us to catch a bus early enough to get us to the church on time for the Ward Council meetings on Sunday. When the other sisters were still in the ward, they actually stayed in Alloa so they would go to Ward Council and be there for us too. But since they left, there aren’t any missionaries in the meeting and the ward really wants us there. So we asked if we could stay in the Alloa flat sometimes so we could make it to the church on time for the meeting. And they gave us permission to! So technically we have two flats now that we can just hop back and forth to. It’s really cool and all the other missionaries are jealous. But at the end of that long explanation: that is why I feel really cool. Haha.
Sunday was great. I was the go-to girl for emergency fill-ins. haha. One of the speakers didn’t show up for sacrament meeting so Bishop asked me if I could give the talk. And I had to play the piano for sacrament meeting. Which is the first time in my life I have ever done that. Sometimes it’s a good thing these wards are so small…. Haha.
Hope you all are enjoying the nice autumn weather coming in! Scotland is absolutely beautiful in autumn. The leaves are just barely starting to turn color so I don’t have any amazing pictures yet but I will!
Nothing too exciting happened this week. I was able to listen to all of General Conference and it was amazing. I love General Conference.
We went to the Bishop’s house for dinner yesterday (Sunday) and it was so much fun! Especially because all the YSA came as well so it was like a party!
The All-Scotland Conference is coming up again on Thursday!! Can’t wait!! It’ll be awesome as always and I can’t wait to see everyone and meet my granddaughters (both Sister Cole and Sister Six are training)!!
Anyway, hope you all have a fantastic week and that you stay warm and dry!!
Hello Family and Friends! Hope this finds you well… as always. haha.
I have been out now for 10 months!! It’s really hard to believe that the time has gone by so fast. It really feels like just yesterday that I was packing to come out here.
But anyway, this week has been amazing. General Conference really is one of the highlights of my year! Watching it in Scotland is a little different than watching it in the US. For one, the time zones are different. So we got to watch the General Women’s Session just this past Saturday at 3:00 and then we were able to watch the Saturday Morning Session live at 5:00pm. We watched the Saturday Afternoon Session at 1:00 on Sunday and then the Sunday Morning we watched live at 5:00pm on Sunday.I just have to download and listen to the Sunday Afternoon Session but I am so looking forward to it!!
Not much new to report here. Having the other sisters, Sister Pinkston and Sister Zimmerman, gone is an adjustment. But I’m glad I have another 6 weeks here in Stirling!!
The weather is starting to get pretty chilly. It rains a little more frequently and it’s a little colder at night. Maybe like a lot colder. I’m starting to be able to see my breath when we leave the flat in the morning.
This week has been an interesting week. It’s been so good. And pretty crazy. My companion, Sister Anjain, was not feeling well for a lot of the week so we were stuck in the flat all day Tuesday, all day Wednesday, most of the day Thursday, and all day Friday. But somehow, we were able to organize and pull off Catherine’s baptismal interview and her baptism on Saturday!! The Lord’s hand is in this work.
Being in the flat on Tuesday was absolutely terrible because Tuesday is District Meeting! And it was our last District Meeting of the transfer. But our district was so nice. They actually called me (Sister Anjain was sleeping) and had me on speaker for the whole 2 hour meeting so I was able to participate. It was great. And then the senior couple who had brought pizza to the meeting for lunch brought us some pizza afterward as well.
Saturday was Catherine’s baptism! It was amazing and so spiritual. She was so prepared. Sunday was her confirmation and moves call. Sister Anjain and I are staying in Stirling and staying together. Sister Pinkston and Sister Zimmerman, the other sisters in the Alloa ward, are both leaving and their area is being closed! So Sister Anjain and I will be taking over their teaching pool and their area. Which will be great but sad to see them go at the same time.
Anyway, weather is getting a wee bit colder and rainier here. It’s starting to get dark around 6:30 and it is dark by 8:00 now. So we know it’s turning into winter.
I hope you all are doing well! It certainly sounds like you are!
This week has been a great week. We got lots of stuff done and we were able to go to Edinburgh for the Edinburgh Stake Conference this weekend. It was great. It’s also funny because I was at the last Edinburgh Stake Conference and it was my last full day in that area. So 6 months later, I’m back. Haha.
Stirling University started back up on Monday so we’ve been seeing a lot more students around the place which is great.
On Wednesday, we had lunch with the Stake President and his wife because they live in our ward! It’s great. The Freeds are amazing.
Moves call is already coming up again on Sunday! I really can’t say what will happen. I might stay or I might leave. It all depends on where I’m needed most.
Anyway, hope you all have a great week. Hope the weather continues to stay nice for you for at least a wee bit.
Sorry for no pictures this week- I’ll do better. Haha.
