11.14.2016 SNOW!!!!

Hello Family and Friends!!

Hope you’re all doing well!! I am!! Hope you’re all getting ready for Thanksgiving and doing fun autumn things. I never realized just how American Thanksgiving really is….. nobody here does ANYTHING for it. Haha. Obviously because it’s an American thing. But Halloween decorations come down and Christmas decorations go right up! They skip all the leaves and turkeys and pilgrims and stuff. It’s weird.

But anyway, we actually had SNOW this week!! It only snowed one night and it was gone by the next morning. But that doesn’t change the fact that it was snowing. In Scotland. In November. Pretty cool.

Nothing too exciting happened this week. We had lunch with a lady who lived through the 2nd World War. That was so interesting. She has so many stories about how in school, they would have to wear gas masks and practice for air raids. And before she got married, she was a policewoman in England but after she got married, she had to quit her job because they wouldn’t let married women be on the force. It was really fun to just listen to her talk. She was in operas too and she would travel everywhere. And now she’s really old and living with her daughter in Scotland.

Anyway, love you all! Hope you all enjoy the Thanksgiving season for me!!

Love,
Sister Michayla Hassing

11.07.2016 Another transfer?

Dear Family and Friends,

Hello!! This week has been full of fun!!!! Halloween on Monday, haircuts, something they call “Guy Fawkes Bonfire Night” on Saturday, and a mission home fireside on Sunday with moves calls thrown in there somewhere. haha

So for moves, Sister Anjain and I are both staying in Stirling!! Which is crazy!! This makes her my record companion!! haha. I’ve never been with a companion for more than 2 transfers and this will be our 3rd together. So that’ll be fun.

So the fireside in Edinburgh was amazing. I got to see so many friends!! Lots of people from Dundee were there so we took lots of pictures. It was great to see them.

Not really much happened this week except some of those really big things. Haha.

Thank you so much to the Ephrata Stake Young Women Presidency!! Your care package means so much!!

But yeah, hope everyone is doing well!! Love you all so much!!

Love,

Sister Michayla Hassing

10.31.2016 Happy Halloween!!

Dear Family and Friends,

Thanks to all of you who sent me birthday wishes this past week and today!!! It means so much!! Love you all!

But anyway, yes. This week has been great. Monday, we went on a hike. We actually went up the “mountain” (it’s not really a mountain, it’s a tiny little hill) that the Wallace Monument is on. We really didn’t have time for anything else but it was good nonetheless.

Tuesday was my 20th birthday. 20 is definitely different than 19. I don’t know how. But it is. Haha. It was great. Sister Anjain was able somehow to plan a surprise birthday party for me with some of the YSA. We had lots of food and cake and it was a lot of fun.

Wednesday, we actually went down to Edinburgh for a few hours for a short Zone Conference. Usually Zone Conferences last from about 9-4 but this one was only from 10-12. But it was nice to be in Edinburgh. Again. Haha. Everyone will be tired of me being there by the end of my mission. Lol.

The Bishop’s family had us over for dinner on Thursday night in honor of my birthday. It was great. Lots of food and cake again.

We actually had heating in the Alloa flat on Saturday night!! That was a highlight. I think I’ve explained this before but I’ll do it again just in case I didn’t…. haha. We have to stay in the flat in Alloa that other sisters used to stay in on Saturday nights because if we stay in Stirling, there’s no bus that gets us to the church early enough for ward council Sunday morning. But the Alloa flat’s heating hasn’t been working. So we’ve been freezing. But we were warm on Saturday night and even a little too hot. Haha.

Today has been interesting already though. Because it’s Halloween today, the mission doesn’t want us missionaries being outside after 6:00. Usually on Mondays, we get the day off from 10-6 and then it’s back to work from 6-9 like usual. But today, we were working from 10-1 and then we get the rest of the day off from 1-9.

This coming Sunday is transfers!! Wonder what’ll happen….

Anyway, hope you all have a great week!!!

Love you!

Sister Michayla Hassing
